Turkey Visa for Ethiopian Citizens
Ethiopian citizens need a visa in order to visit Turkey. Thanks to the Turkish eVisa, launched by the Turkish government in 2013, Ethiopian tourists can now do so without the need to attend an embassy or consulate in person.
The online application requires just an internet connection and can be completed from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day.
Travelers from Ethiopia can take advantage of the electronic permit provided they meet the Turkish eVisa requirements, details of which can be found below.
Turkish Online Visa for Ethiopian Citizens
The Turkey eVisa is an electronic travel authorization that grants foreign nationals of many states, including Ethiopia, access to the country.
The traditional ‘sticker visa’ and ‘stamp visa’ previously issued at Turkish border crossings have been replaced by the electronic visa which is much faster and more convenient.
By applying for a Turkish eVisa before departure, Ethiopian travelers can avoid issues at the border and long lines at the airport. The electronic visa is emailed directly to the applicant on approval, to be presented at the point of entry.
Turkish e-Visa Requirements for Ethiopian Citizens
Ethiopian passport holders must meet the following set of criteria in order to take advantage of the Turkish eVisa:
- An Ethiopian passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Turkey
- Valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen Area country, Ireland, UK or US
- Credit/debit card to pay the eVisa fees
- Email address to which the permit will be sent
The Turkish visa on arrival is still available to some nationalities at certain airports. The traditional visa is not recommended as it can lead to queues and delays at the border, passengers with an eVisa can start enjoying their vacation as soon as they arrive.
Moreover, the Turkish government has announced that the visa on arrival will be phased out entirely and replaced with the electronic version.
