Turkey is a beautiful country with a rich history and vibrant culture that attracts tourists from all over the world. Amongst the well-known places that tourists flock to in Turkey include; Ankara, Antalya, Istanbul, and Konya. Turkey also has a thriving food scene in each of these regions that becomes an added reason for people to visit the country.
The Turkish Government for its part has been looking at ways to make travel easier for people interested in traveling to the country from all over the world. Recently, the Turkish Government made the electronic travel authorization system available to citizens of over 100 countries. This allows them to bypass the time-consuming process of going through a Turkish embassy or consulate in order to apply for a visa and makes the process easier for travelers who plan to visit the country.
With this system, travelers can apply for a visa online from the comfort of their own home or office and receive the visa electronically within a matter of days.
It should be noted that all foreigners traveling to Turkey are required to obtain a visa prior to making any travel arrangements. As such, the Turkish Government offers a variety of tourist visas depending on the different needs that people may have for traveling to the country. Travelers are, therefore, encouraged to look through the list of different tourist visas offered by the Turkish Government and select one that best suits their travel needs.
Turkey Visa Requirements for Egyptian Citizens
In order to apply for a Turkish eVisa, all foreign travelers will need to meet certain basic requirements set by the Turkish Government. These requirements include:
- A passport with a minimum validity of 150 days from the date of arrival in Turkey
- A valid email address
- Valid credit/debit card information
It is important for the traveler to ensure that their passport has the required validity before beginning the application process to ensure that their eVisa application will be successful. Depending on the traveler’s nationality, the eVisa for Turkey might be a single-entry or a multiple-entry visa and it may allow the traveler a stay of 30 days or 90 days respectively.
It is also worth noting that individuals/groups arriving in Turkey as transit travelers who pass through immigration to spend a night or two in the country will need to apply for an electronic transit visa for Turkey. The process of applying for an electronic transit visa for Turkey is similar to the tourist eVisa for Turkey and the application process for both has the same basic requirements for travel documents.
How to Get a Turkey Visa from Egypt
Once the applicant has checked that they meet the basic requirements in order to apply for the eVisa, they can then begin the application process by accessing the Turkey Visa website. The website contains a link to the eVisa application form on the main page. The applicant will be required to fill out the online application form for the eVisa which generally asks them to fill certain biographical information as well as passport details.
The applicant will also have to provide a valid email address where the visa will be sent once the eVisa application has been approved.
In order to complete the application process, the applicants will also need to provide valid credit/debit card information which will be used to charge the applicant’s card for processing the eVisa application.
It is imperative that the online application be filled out accurately with the information entered on the form matching exactly the information displayed on the applicant’s passport. Failure to do so could mean a rejected eVisa application or a denial of entry into Turkey on the basis of traveling with an invalid visa.
The eVisa Process for Egyptian Citizens
Once the online application has been filled out, the applicant will need to follow the online instructions to submit the application. After the application has been submitted it can take up to 3 business days for the eVisa to be processed. It can sometimes take longer than that if it is determined that the application may require further processing or if there are certain holidays/weekends in Turkey that happen to fall within the 3-day processing period.
Travelers are also advised to apply for their eVisa a few days or up to a week ahead of their intended date of travel to the country to account for any eventualities that might delay the process of receiving the eVisa. If the eVisa application is approved, the applicant will receive the eVisa via the email address they provided when they submitted the application.
Travelers need to ensure that they keep a copy of their eVisa application on their phone/handheld device but most importantly, carry a printed copy with them to the airport when they travel. The eVisa will need to be presented to immigration officials at the Turkish airport/port of entry.
