Turkey Visa Requirements for Australian Citizens
Australia is on the list of over 100 countries whose citizens are allowed to apply for and obtain an e-Visa for Turkey. However, before beginning the application process, travelers must make sure they fulfill the certain requirements set by the Turkish Government for all foreigners intending to visit the country on a Turkish e-Visa. These requirements set the precedent for a successful e-Visa application. They include:
- Having a passport that is valid for at least 150 days from the date of arrival in Turkey
- Having a valid email address
- Having valid debit/credit card information
The applicant should make sure that his/her has the required validity on their passport for traveling to Turkey, otherwise he/she might want to consider renewing their passport before they begin the application process. This might require the traveler to add additional time to their preparations for their intended travel to Turkey.
How to get a Turkish e-Visa from Australia
In order to begin applying for the Turkish e-Visa from Australia, the applicants will have to visit the Turkish online e-Visa website and navigate to a link on the main page that allows them to access the online application form. This e-Visa application form will ask the applicant to provide some personal details such as name, date of birth, place of birth etc. as well as some passport details such as the passport number and date of expiration.
The applicant will also be asked to provide a valid email address where the e-Visa will be sent once the application has been processed. There is a fee associated with applying for the Turkish e-Visa, therefore, the applicants will have to submit valid debit/credit card information in order to get their application processed. Applicants can also sign up for expedited service for their e-Visa processing while filling out the application but that can typically cost more than the standard rate for e-Visa application processing.
It is imperative that the applicants fill out the e-Visa application with as accurately as possible as any discrepancies can interfere with their travel plans. Typically, a mismatch between information shown on the e-Visa and the travelers passport information can result in the e-Visa application being rejected, and in some cases, the traveler is denied entry into the country on the basis of traveling on an invalid visa.
The e-Visa Process for Australian Citizens
After the Turkish e-Visa application has been submitted, the applicants can expect to hear back on the status of their application within approximately 3 business days.
